I have only recently discovered Meghan Hicks and her amazing Think Write Read Community. Meghan is a brilliant teacher and she has taken some of the very best writing instruction out there (The Writing Revolution, Writing Matters, MIchael Clay Thompson, and SRSD) combined it with her background in Montessori and her training in SWI, and come up with something truly brilliant. 

In the Think Write Read Community, Meghan not only offers workshops and videos on how to use her resources (and there are tons of resources freely available to subscribers), she also offers lots of live Q & A’s and online support. And it’s not only Meg, there are lots of other great educators sharing questions and ideas in the community. 

There are (steadily reducing) fees for the first four years of continuous enrolment, and then it’s a free lifetime membership. This is definitely worth checking out! 

Sara Lee of the Literacy Dr is now offering small Grammar Workshops (1-3 people) for one hour a week over three weeks. Not only is this a chance to study with Sara at close quarters, but she is also giving the participants some say in the content. This is the class description:  

A major focus of the workshop will be exploring grammatical function and how it relates to grammatical form. Participants will also vote on additional topics to be included in their workshop such as: ​

• • How to incorporate grammar into word study
  • Sentence diagramming
  • Word form charts

Sara is a phenomenal grammar teacher and this is a tremendous learning opportunity. You can even put together your own group! 

As many of you know, Kathleen Love from Rain City Reading has been producing lots of great SWI merch. She also produces some great SWI resources that you can get for free! All you have to do is sign up for her mailing list. 

Kathleen has ready-to-use word studies on some very interesting words such as ocean and anxiety. These are the kind of printables you aren’t going to find anywhere else. You can always sign up just long enough to download the printables, but knowing Kathleen she’ll be adding more and her newsletters are full of interesting ideas, new resources and other great information. There is also a list of SWI resources that Kathleen crowdsourced which has some interesting sites on it. 

So, all in all, this is a site worth subscribing to.
